All new in 2006 model year, the 2006 Lexus RX 400h is America's first gas-electric luxury hybrid SUV, it joins the regular RX series as top-of-the line trim level in the RX lineup. It is a remarkable piece of engineering with an internal combustion engine assisted by three electric motors for enhanced performance and fuel economy. The 2006 Lexus RX 400h is a 4 door, 5 passenger luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV), it is available in two trims, the Front Wheel Drive (FWD) and the All Wheel Drive (AWD). The Front Wheel Drive is equipped with a standard 3.3 liter, V6, 268 HP hybrid engine (Hybrid Synergy Drive) that delivered a fuel economy of 33 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway, the All Wheel Drive slightly less at 31 mpg in the city and 27 on the highway. It can achieved 0-60 mph in 7.2 seconds.
