All
new for the 2007 model year, the Saturn VUE Green Line
Hybrid is a 4 door, 5 passengers SUV that provides up to
20 percent better fuel economy than its non-hybrid
counterpart. At 27 mpg city and 32 mpg highway, it also
has the best highway rating of any hybrid SUV currently
on the market. Available in one trim only, the 2007 VUE
Green Line Hybrid is equipped with a standard 170-HP,
2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine with variable valve timing
and is teamed with an electric motor-generator.
The 2007 VUE Green Line is consider a Mild Hybrid and is
the first vehicle in the GM's line to use Belt
Alternator Starter (BAS) system. A large electric motor
is connected to the crankshaft via a special accessory
drive belt, with a modified 4T45-E automatic
transmission fitted. The Vue Green Line uses
sophisticated controls and a unique electric
motor/generator mated to a 2.4L VVT four-cylinder engine
and 4T45-E four-speed transmission. It is a simple and
flexible hybrid design that provides additional power
from the motor/generator during acceleration and allows
increased fuel economy through engine shut-off at idle,
fuel cut-off during deceleration and the capability to
capture electrical energy through regenerative braking.
The Green Line hybrid version is expected to cost only
about US$2,000 more than a similarly-equipped VUE, and
with MSRP of $22,370 making it the most affordable
hybrid SUV on the market today.
The Vue Green Line is one of 12 hybrids GM will launch,
providing customers with several levels of fuel economy
savings at different price points on vehicles ranging
from cars to full-size SUVs.
